Shanqiue Peart, Founder
Shanique Peart is a first-generation, Afro-Canadian, multidisciplinary artist, educator, and arts administrator based in Kingston, Ontario. With a background in dance, photography, performance, and storytelling, her work explores the intersections of movement, identity, and environment.
Shanique’s exploratory essence led her to become a self-taught dancer. Since then, she has explored and become versed in Hip-Hop, Freestyle, Dancehall, Afro Fusion, Modern, and Urban Contemporary styles.
Rooted in collaboration and inspired by community, Shanique blends artistic disciplines to craft stories that reflect shared experiences and collective memory. Through vibrant compositions, she seeks to foster connection and evoke emotion.
Beyond performance, she is actively involved in creative projects across theatre, education, film and arts administration, continuing to build spaces where art, culture, and community meet.

Harvey Tolentino Doniego (he/they) is a Multidisciplinary Artist, Educator, and Creative based in Kingston, Ontario. With a strong passion for community engagement and artistic expression.

The Candid Creative Co. is a platform, practice, and evolving business at the intersection of photography, movement, storytelling, and care. Based in Kingston, Ontario’s vibrant arts community, the platform was created to give all of my creative practices a shared home. One that honours expression, care, and the full human experience.
My name is Shanique Peart, I am a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, and creative entrepreneur. I have always been drawn to modes of expression that allow people to feel more like themselves. Whether through music, art, theatre, visual storytelling or creative ritual. Creating has always been both my language and my grounding.
My relationship with photography began in middle school with my first cell phone. I became fascinated by capturing the quiet, fleeting moments we often overlook in our day-to-day lives. I formally picked up my first DSLR camera in high school, and during my first year of dance school, I realized photography could live alongside movement; not separate from it. Since then, my lens and I have been inseparable, shaping my journey as an interdisciplinary artist.
Beyond photography, my practice is deeply informed by my education in hairstyling and esthetics, as well as my training through an Arts Entrepreneurship Certificate program. These experiences have strengthened my belief that artistry, care, and professionalism can coexist. As well as feeling seen, supported, and confident is just as important as the final image.
At the heart of The Candid Creative Co. is a commitment to creating genuine, safe, and affirming spaces. Whether I’m photographing portraits, documenting events, or collaborating on creative projects, my goal is always the same: to help people look and feel like their best selves while honouring their individuality.
Over the next few years, I hope to grow The Candid Creative Co into a much more than just photography. A space not only for my own work, but for other artists who may lack access to resources, physical space, or training opportunities, much like the beginning of my own artistic journey.
